Melvin Ballard Memorial Tournament

June 9, 2024 | Ingersoll Golf Course

The Melvin Ballard Memorial Tournament is a one-day, two person best ball tournament limited to 72 players. This tournament is held each year to honor the memory of Melvin Ballard, an outstanding local player and avid golfer, who was killed in action near Saigon, Vietnam in 1968. Open to ages 16 and older. Pre-registration is required, no late entries will be accepted.

Mixed Doubles Golf Tournament

June 28, 2024 | Sinnissippi Golf Course

The Mixed Doubles Golf Tournament is open to all amateur golfers ages 16 and older. Teams must be comprised of one female and one male golfer. The tournament will be a 9-hole Chapman system of alternate shots.  Both players will tee off. The team will alternate the second shot; the team must choose the ball they will play until the ball is holed out. Entry is limited to the first 54 teams – both golfers must register.

The McWilliams/Johnson Open

July 13, 2024 | Ingersoll Golf Course

The McWilliams/Johnson Open is a 2-person scramble format tournament. Pairings must include two participants of any age. The tournament is open to both youth and adults; all golfers are welcome (including professional golfers). Entry is limited to the first 144 golfers. Each participant must register. This event benefits the Lloyd and Barb McWilliams Fund.

Lloyd McWilliams was a PGA Professional, and he received the PGA Illinois Sectional Distinguished Service Award for Junior Golf. He was a five-time Men’s Golf Classic champion (shooting a course record of 63 in 1969), and had multiple first place finishes in the Ballard Memorial Golf Tournament. Lloyd was also a Winnebago County champion, four-time Mixed Doubles Classic champion, and winner of many other tournaments. Lloyd also qualified for the USGA Public Links Amateur six times, finishing in 11th place as his personal best. 

Mike Johnson was a four-time Rockford Men’s Golf Classic champion, two-time Winnebago County Amateur champion, Melvin Ballard and Ballard Senior champion, and Senior Classic champion. He also qualified for the U.S. Public Links Tournament, and won many other tournaments in his lifetime. 

Both Lloyd and Mike were inducted into the Rockford Area Golf Hall of Fame, and shared their passion for the game with junior and adaptive golfers by teaching over many decades in the Rockford area.

Aldeen Cup

July 20-21, 2024 | Aldeen Golf Club

Two-day amateur golf tournament open to all amateur golfers 18 years of age and older with a verified U.S.G.A. index of 10.7 or less. A Women's Division is available to all female golfers age 18 and over. A Senior Division is available for golfers age 50 and over

Greater Rockford Men’s and Women’s Classic

July 26-28, 2024

The Greater Rockford Men's & Women's Classic is open to all male and female amateur golfers ages 14 and older. The tournament field will be limited to the first 112 entries. The tournament format will be 54 holes of stroke play on one weekend, described in the schedule of play. The Masters' Division will be 60+ for Men and Women.  

Senior Classic

August 12-13, 2024 | Ingersoll Golf Course

The Senior Classic is open to all male and female amateur golfers ages 50 and older. The tournament format will be 36 holes of stroke play, and entry is to the first 144 players. There will be four divisions: Jack Nicklaus Men's Division (50-64), Sam Sneed Men's Division (65+), Kathy Whitworth Women's Division (50-64) and Patty Berg's Division (65+).

Junior Series

This is a summer series of golf tournaments run by the Rockford Park District to provide additional opportunities for skill development and tournament experience.

Tiger Cub

June 23, 2024 | Sinnissippi Golf Course

August 18, 2024 | Sinnissippi Golf Course

The Tiger Cub, funded by the Bill Laude Memorial Fund, is open to all junior golfers, ages 5-17, and their adult amateur golf partners (age 18+). Each participant must register; golfers should sign up for the division based on their age. Registration is limited to the first 72 players. Pre-registration required – no registration will be allowed the day of the tournament.

Junior Classic

July 22-23, 2024 | Ingersoll Golf Course

Open to golfers ages 8-18, the Rockford Park District Junior Classic is a 36-hole event played over two days.
